About us

India has always told its stories through threads.

From the vibrant bazaar lanes and royal courts to temple corridors and family heirlooms, every weave carries a legacy. Every motif holds a meaning. Every drape reflects a civilisation shaped by centuries of artistry, ritual and celebration. Our textiles are not merely fabrics - they are living expressions of India's cultural heritage, where silk, zari, colour and symbolism come together to preserve traditions that continue to evolve with time.

At Projekt Gulabjaam, we honour this enduring spirit by bringing India's most celebrated weaving traditions to the women of today. Rooted in heritage and refined through contemporary design, our sarees are created for those who appreciate craftsmanship as much as elegance.

The name Gulabjaam draws inspiration from one of India's most beloved sweets - a timeless classic crafted with patience, simplicity and care. Much like its namesake, our philosophy celebrates the beauty of tradition, thoughtfully reimagined for the present.

Our collections are sourced from the very regions where these timeless traditions were born. Whether it is the regal Kanjivaram silks from the looms of South India or other celebrated weaves from across the country, every saree carries the authenticity of its place of origin. We believe that every weave deserves to be experienced where its story began, preserving not just the craft, but also the culture, communities and generations of artisans who continue to keep these traditions alive.

Many of our designs are inspired by motifs that have travelled through centuries, carrying stories of kingdoms, folklore and craftsmanship. One such inspiration is the Iruthalaipakshi, also known as the Ganda Bherunda - the mythical two-headed eagle, a symbol of strength, victory and regal splendour. Once woven into the magnificent Kanjivaram silks of South India and celebrated in the insignia of the Mysore kingdom, it continues to inspire our design language, lending every weave a quiet sense of history and grandeur.

Behind every saree is the skilled hand of an artisan, where every taan, baan and intricate weave reflects years of mastery. The gentle shimmer of zari, the richness of silk and the thoughtful harmony of colour, texture and craftsmanship come together to create pieces that transcend seasons and trends.

We believe heritage is meant to be lived, not preserved behind glass. It belongs in celebrations, festivals, cherished milestones and everyday moments of grace. Every drape is designed to honour the past while feeling effortlessly relevant for the present - becoming an heirloom not just in fabric, but in sentiment.

Projekt Gulabjaam is a celebration of India's woven legacy - where every thread carries the soul of its homeland, every motif echoes centuries of tradition and every saree is an invitation to wear India's timeless artistry with quiet confidence and contemporary elegance.
